- They eventually withdrew from Ghana and the way had badly disrupted the gold salt trade
- Ghana never regained its power, so the empire fell.

- Since Ibn Battuta, a native from North Africa, had passed away, within 50 years after the empire of Mali was established, Mali had began to weaken.
- Most of Mansa Musa's successors lacked the ability to govern well.
- The gold trade that had been the basics of Mali"s wealth shifted eastward as new goldfields were developed.
- As a result, this was the reason why Mali began to fall.
